GUMBALL 3000 CARS THE RS6 DTM
Think of the Gumball Rally and you'll instantly think of the fantastic cars that we are treated to year after year.
One such car is the Audi RS6 DTM.
Professional skier and Team Betsafe driver Jon Olsson commissioned the car which would take part in the European leg of the 2015 rally, Stockholm to Vegas. Designed by Jonand Leif Tufvesson (former cheif engineer at Koenigsegg) and built by Stertman Motorsport, the stock Adui RS6 was transformed into a monster.
Over 100 metres of carbon fibre was ordered, from the same factory that provide Pagani with their carbon. It was then moulded and shaped on the RS6 until the inner essence of a DTM racer was found. Huge arches, air scoops and fins stuck out from the body.
Obviously the modifications weren't just skin deep...the car now had a STM Stage 3+ kit, including super custom 18 karat gold anodised TTE9XX turbo chargers and a full Milltek race exhaust system that would provide 950bhp on pump gas, and using race gas... over 1000bhp!!! Handling would be more than a handful on stock chassis so a full custom suspension kit was fitted along with the largest brakes that would fit the RS6.
After the rally the car was sold to a private buyer who took delivery from Jon. Months later the motoring world was shocked to learn that it had been stolen at gun point, used in a armed robbery and then recovered burnt to the ground.
The car will forever live in Gumball folklore.
